RSCS Participation at the EPRI Buried Piping Integrity Group Open Door Session in Chattanooga TN, July 15 -16
Posted on July 17th, 2014

Matt Darois of RSCS contributed to a joint presentation at the EPRI Buried Piping Integrity Group Open Door Session with Hank Kleinfelder of CorrTech Inc, and Greg Lupia of Exelon Corporation that provided updates on the performance of Direct Push Installed Corrosion Monitoring Test Stations at LaSalle Generation Station.  This presentation detailed the methods used to install these test stations to evaluate the corrosivity of soil proximal to buried piping.  Results of soil sampling and interpretations were presented along with 3D visualizations of the subsurface and buried piping proximal to the plant structures.   The ability of this system to minimize the number of direct inspections as required under LR-ISG-2011-03 Table 4a was examined, along with the use of data provided by the test stations to satisfy license renewal requirements for the LaSalle Generation Station.
