Decommissioning Cost Estimation Course in South Korea
Posted on September 17th, 2014

Eric Darois and Rod Knight are in South Korea this week to deliver a 5-day course on Decommissioning Cost Estimation to a nuclear utility client.  This course will cover the fundamentals of cost estimation, the use of unit cost factors and work difficulty factors, creating a plant inventory and developing a decommissioning schedule.  The instructors will be using the RSCS DeCAT-Pro software to build and modify decommissioning cost estimates (DCEs) for pressurized water reactors.  Each student will participate in DeCAT workshops during the course.  The goal for the training is to enable students to build and review decommissioning cost estimates using all of the features of the RSCS DeCAT-Pro software and to understand the steps involved in creating these complex estimates.

As a Certified Health Physicist with over 37 years in the business, Eric Darois brings the experience of being actively engaged in nuclear power plant decommissioning projects since 1997 to this course.  Rod Knight, with over 30 years of nuclear experience and expertise as a certified cost estimator, has performed numerous DCEs for many other clients, both domestic and international. RSCS is confident that this mix of experience will make for a successful course.

While in South Korea, Eric and Rod are sure to have a chance to sample the local cuisine and make some new friends.  RSCS wishes them safe travels!
