Posted on July 7th, 2017

Eric Darois of RSCS received the prestigious Jason Jang Award at the recent 2017 Radiological Effluents & Environmental Workshop (REEW) conference.  An industry expert who serves in advisory roles for both the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) and the Electrical Power Research Institute (EPRI), Mr. Darois was honored with this lifetime achievement award in recognition of his contribution towards the development and promotion of best practices in the environmental assessment of effluents released from nuclear power plants.  The award also commended him on his role as an educator to the next generation of nuclear professionals on complex calculations and assessment methods used for determining release pathways and resulting dose profiles.

The award is named in honor of Jason Jang, an NRC inspector who set the standards for RETS-REMP programming at nuclear utilities.  This award is made annually at the REEW conference to individuals who demonstrate a commitment to sound scientific approaches to environmental sampling and analysis in support of radiological effluent monitoring at nuclear utilities.

Noteworthy is that this award is typically reserved for industry professionals who work at nuclear utilities.  As a private consultant to the nuclear industry for over 25 years, Mr. Darois was honored to be selected for this award and appreciated the recognition of his support for operating and decommissioning sites.
